Agentic Architect exam: GA registration, format and labs

Updated

Google says Professional Agentic Architect GA registration opens November 2 and exam availability is planned for mid-November. As checked October 17, 2026, the announcement does not attach a year to the November 2 sentence. We report registration and exam availability separately rather than calling November 2 an exam launch date.

Official certification page · Official Agentic Architect FAQ. Updated October 17, 2026.

GA format: two parts, not just a multiple-choice exam

The FAQ says the GA multiple-choice session is two hours, costs $200 USD and has official results in 7–10 business days. Successful candidates are notified through CM Connect and have two months to complete required hands-on labs in Google Skills. You must pass both components to earn the credential. The FAQ says the credential is valid for one year.

The required assessment labs are separate from the optional learning-path labs. Completing training labs does not replace the certification labs. The official GA FAQ does not state a question count, languages or delivery options in the section we checked. Do not fill these gaps with beta facts.

Keep the beta facts separate

DetailUpcoming GAClosed beta
Multiple-choice session2 hours3 hours
Question countNot stated in the checked GA guidanceApproximately 80
Listed fee$200 USD$120 USD, plus applicable tax
Results7–10 business daysLate October through CM Connect
Required labsTwo months after passing, per FAQComplete by December 31, 2026, per certification page

Beta registration closed September 30, 2026. The beta's roughly 80 questions, three-hour session and December 31 lab deadline are not GA logistics. Google's certification page still includes general beta-results boilerplate; for this credential's multiple-choice results, the specific FAQ and page say late October. Check the current official instructions for your attempt.

What does Agentic Architect cover?

The official Agentic Architect exam guide, checked October 17, 2026, divides the scope into five approximate domains:

DomainApproximate weight
Building agents using low-code tools13%
Using coding agents for application development17%
Developing custom agents33%
Evaluating and deploying agentic workflows22%
Securing and governing agentic workflows15%

These are guide weights, not exact question counts. The fetched PDF does not state an effective date; we do not infer a GA blueprint date from its filename.

The objectives include ADK, sessions and memory, retrieval-augmented generation, MCP and A2A, multiagent handoffs, tool-execution evaluation, runtime selection and security controls. Coding-agent work includes tools and custom skills. Governance includes identity, secure tool calls, policies, Model Armor and human-in-the-loop choices.

How does it overlap with PMLE?

There is useful conceptual overlap: choosing a model or service under cost and latency constraints, retrieval, generative evaluation, deployment, monitoring and responsible AI. That is a qualitative comparison of the guides, not a measured overlap percentage.

PMLE spans a wider ML lifecycle: conventional models, data preparation, training and retraining, serving, ML pipelines and MLOps. Its official page says the exam does not directly assess coding skill. Agentic Architect instead requires distinct labs that validate execution and coding ability, alongside architectural knowledge. Neither credential is a stated prerequisite for the other.

Use the PMLE certification guide to compare scope. Testero's available PMLE diagnostic is a different assessment: it does not assess Agentic Architect readiness or replace its labs.

A practical preparation sequence

The following is Testero's editorial advice, not a requirement from Google:

  1. Map the official guide to work you have actually done. Separate low-code construction, coding agents and custom-agent architecture.
  2. Build a small workflow in a safe learning environment. Explain its tools, memory, permissions and handoffs; do not stop at a successful response.
  3. Test a failed tool call, a retrieval miss and a permission boundary. Record evidence for reliability, latency, cost and safe human intervention.
  4. Use the optional learning path for gaps, then follow Google's separate assessment-lab instructions after passing the exam.
  5. Recheck the official page and FAQ before booking. Dates, prices and assessment instructions can change.
