Professional Agentic Architect

Professional · Diagnostic coming · Upcoming GA exam facts

Explore agent architecture, the upcoming two-hour GA exam and required hands-on labs. Compare GA registration timing and PMLE overlap.

Who this exam is for

This assessment concerns developers and architects designing agentic workflows across low-code tools, coding assistance and custom development. The role is not simply about producing a convincing demonstration: evaluation, deployment, security and governance are part of the guide too. It is relevant when you need to decide how an agent should act, what limits it should have and how a team can judge its behavior. Preparation should connect architectural decisions to hands-on execution, because both the proctored exam and separate assessment labs must be passed.

Google recommends: 3+ years of hands-on experience building, testing, deploying, and managing cloud solutions including 1+ years building agentic solutions using Google Cloud Source.

Agentic Architect: GA timing, labs and PMLE overlap

Google says GA registration opens November 2 and exam availability is planned for mid-November. Checked October 17, 2026: the registration sentence is without a year, so we do not infer a full date or treat registration as exam launch.

The GA FAQ specifies a two-hour multiple-choice session, $200 USD, results in 7–10 business days and two months after passing to finish required Google Skills labs. Both parts must be passed. GA question count is not stated. The beta's ~80 questions and three-hour session are not GA facts.

Learning-path labs are optional preparation. Certification assessment labs are distinct and only available after passing the proctored exam. The December 31, 2026 deadline below is beta-only.

What you will study

The linked guide spans low-code agents, coding agents, custom agents, evaluation and deployment, and security and governance. It includes ADK, sessions and memory, MCP and A2A, retrieval, agent handoffs, tool-execution evaluation and secure runtime choices. Its approximate weights appear below; the fetched guide does not state an effective date.

How it compares with PMLE

Both guides cover model choices, generative evaluation, retrieval, deployment, monitoring and security. PMLE is broader across the ML lifecycle: data, conventional models, training, serving, pipelines and MLOps. Google says PMLE does not directly assess coding skill; Agentic Architect's separate labs validate execution and coding ability. Neither is a stated prerequisite for the other.

Our available PMLE diagnostic is not an Agentic Architect assessment or a substitute for its labs. The notification form is for Testero's future diagnostic, not Google exam registration; no launch date is promised.

How to prepare

  1. Read the linked exam guide and separate low-code agent construction, coding agents and custom agents into distinct study areas. Write down where each approach could fit a real workflow and where more control or evaluation would be needed.
  2. Select optional Google Skills learning activities related to agent development and deployment. Record inputs, tools and permissions, then examine how a failed or unexpected action would be detected.
  3. Use official sample questions to practice interpreting workflow requirements. Explain each choice’s evaluation or governance consequence instead of assuming more autonomy is always preferable.
  4. Recheck the official page and FAQ before booking. Keep GA and beta logistics separate. Training labs do not replace the distinct certification assessment labs required after passing the exam.
