Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer

Professional · Diagnostic coming

Explore the DevOps credential for reliable delivery and operation of cloud services.

Who this exam is for

This exam fits engineers responsible for making software delivery and cloud operation dependable. The guide brings together organization setup, delivery pipelines, site reliability engineering, observability, and performance and cost optimization. It is relevant whether your daily work starts with a deployment pipeline or a production incident, because both depend on shared operational choices. Preparation should connect the speed of making changes to the evidence that those changes remain safe and useful.

Google recommends: 3+ years of industry experience including 1+ years designing and managing production systems using Google Cloud Source.

Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer: scope and next steps

What you will study

Google’s certification page lists these assessment areas. Use them to orient your preparation, then read the linked exam guide for the detailed objectives. The list is not a question count or a promise of what will appear on your exam.

  • Bootstrap and maintain a Google Cloud organization
  • Apply site reliability engineering practices
  • Build and implement CI/CD pipelines, including continuous testing, for application, infrastructure, and machine learning workloads
  • Implement observability practices and troubleshoot issues
  • Optimize performance and cost

Requirements are not the same as preparation

Prerequisites stated by Google: None. No formal prerequisite does not mean no experience is needed. Review Google’s recommended experience and the official sample questions before deciding how much preparation you need.

Check the standard exam details below before booking. Renewal options can have different eligibility, formats and prices; they are not a shorter first-certification route. Confirm current availability directly with Google.

How it compares with PMLE

Cloud DevOps Engineer emphasizes delivery, reliability and observability. PMLE applies related operational ideas to ML systems alongside data and model development. The overlap in automation does not make either credential a substitute for the other. Compare the PMLE exam guide.

Testero’s available PMLE diagnostic does not assess Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer readiness. The notification form is for a future Testero diagnostic, not Google exam registration. No Testero launch date is promised.

Make a plan before choosing practice

Mark the guide objectives you can already explain or perform, then set aside time for the gaps. Our free study planner can turn the guide weights into a time budget. It does not measure your skills or include a question bank for this exam.

How to prepare

  1. Review the standard guide and map its sections onto a service you understand. Include the organization foundation and infrastructure delivery, not just application code, and identify where testing or approval decisions enter the release process.
  2. Build operational practice through Google Cloud Skills Boost labs on delivery and observability. Trace a change from build to deployment, then inspect the signals that would show whether the service is behaving as expected.
  3. Use official sample questions to distinguish a quick local fix from a durable operational improvement. Explain how the proposed action affects reliability, delivery, and the team’s ability to investigate problems rather than selecting by product name alone.
  4. Write a brief incident review and a follow-up optimization plan. Separate immediate recovery from changes to testing, monitoring, performance, or cost, and tie each proposed improvement to an observable problem rather than an abstract preference.
