Professional Cloud Network Engineer

Professional · Diagnostic coming

Explore the networking credential for designing and managing cloud connectivity.

Who this exam is for

This exam suits engineers who connect cloud workloads to each other and to networks outside Google Cloud. The role combines network design with implementation, troubleshooting, and security decisions. It is particularly relevant when your work involves choosing connectivity patterns, explaining traffic paths, or keeping shared network services usable as applications grow. Preparation should connect configuration details to the behavior users and operators actually observe.

Google recommends: 3+ years of industry experience including 1+ years designing and managing solutions using Google Cloud Source.

Professional Cloud Network Engineer: scope and next steps

What you will study

Google’s certification page lists these assessment areas. Use them to orient your preparation, then read the linked exam guide for the detailed objectives. The list is not a question count or a promise of what will appear on your exam.

  • Design and plan a Google Cloud Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) network.
  • Implement a VPC network.
  • Configure managed network services.
  • Configure and implement hybrid and multi-cloud network interconnectivity.
  • Manage, monitor, and troubleshoot network operations.
  • Configure, implement, and manage a cloud network security solution.

Requirements are not the same as preparation

Prerequisites stated by Google: None. No formal prerequisite does not mean no experience is needed. Review Google’s recommended experience and the official sample questions before deciding how much preparation you need.

Check the standard exam details below before booking. Renewal options can have different eligibility, formats and prices; they are not a shorter first-certification route. Confirm current availability directly with Google.

How it compares with PMLE

Cloud Network Engineer specializes in connectivity, network services and network security. PMLE focuses on machine learning systems. Networking matters to deployment, but a networking study plan is not an ML-readiness assessment. Compare the PMLE exam guide.

Testero’s available PMLE diagnostic does not assess Professional Cloud Network Engineer readiness. The notification form is for a future Testero diagnostic, not Google exam registration. No Testero launch date is promised.

Make a plan before choosing practice

How to prepare

  1. Use the standard exam guide to map VPC design, managed network services, hybrid connectivity, and network security into a single architecture sketch. Mark the boundaries where routing, name resolution, or access rules could change the result.
  2. Choose Google Cloud Skills Boost labs that let you configure connectivity and inspect traffic. After each exercise, describe what would happen if a route or firewall rule changed, rather than recording only the successful commands.
  3. Work through the official sample questions and justify your choices using the stated network constraints. Treat them as examples of question style, not a complete troubleshooting checklist or a forecast of your result.
  4. Finish by walking through a connectivity incident from symptom to evidence to repair. Include monitoring and operational checks, because a network design is incomplete if you cannot explain how to diagnose it.
